I know that Pearl did live in India and met Frank there.  I must say I've assumed her father Francis was also in India as he is listed in FS record as father at the marriage which took place in Bareilly.  The story - how true I don't know - is that she became pregnant and married Frank and her family who were supposedly wealthy disowned her - either before or after she came to Sheffield.

Tricky one!  Thanks very much for your interest and help, it's very much appreciated.

best wishes
Val

Just found an interesting posh wedding in Sussex.
All Saints Church,Plumpton,Sussex, published 25 Oct 1912,The Sussex Agricultural Express.
Miss Alice May Wells of Plumpton,,to Mr George Codling Riche from Clapham Park London.
The brides two nieces Misses Ruby Hunter and Pearl Hunter were bridesmaids.
Found in FindMyPast,
Theres an imposing list of presents with who gave them, but no other Hunter mentioned.Long shot but may be the correct Pearl Hunter.

Hi Val

The 1925 return to the UK certainly looks like your Pearl and her daughter - despite the name differences (the daughter's name  particularly intriguing, in light of what appear to be subsequent GLOVER births with mms HUNTER registered in Sheffield [not naming here])...

Do you have the registration of Pearl's death? Curious as to the name she was registered as and the age?

I couldn't see Frank GLOVER back to the UK - was he in India as a soldier (you mentioned he was stationed there)?

Cheers

I've not checked her death date yet. Pearls daughter was Mavis Adeline Glover.  She did have other children inc Shelagh and Ronald. I did see the passenger record for return to UK where there was a Phyllis Glover with baby Mavis back to UK from India in 1925. I've made the assumption it was Pearl. Like you, I can't find Frank. I've been told they met whilst he was posted to India. Again assumption Army but not sure.

Hi Brionne

I don't think so as she was known to the family as Pearl:

"Pearl married I think as Frank Glover who was stationed out in India and she met him and it would make sense that Mavis was born out of wedlock there in India. Nanny Glover as we called her was disowned by her wealthy parents when she got pregnant and decided to stay with her Frank and they got married and lived in Sheffield."

I have 2 Sheffield deaths yet to be investigated:

Name:   Pearl M Glover
Birth Date:   abt 1918
Date of Registration:   Mar 1962
Age at Death:   44
Registration District:   Pontefract
Inferred County:   Yorkshire West Riding
Volume:   2c
Page:   739

Name:   Margaret P Glover
Birth Date:   abt 1907
Date of Registration:   Dec 1968
Age at Death:   61
Registration District:   Sheffield
Inferred County:   Yorkshire West Riding
Volume:   2d
Page:   92

Hi Val, there seems to be conflicting information, I think you may have to check the marriage out, at your local Family Search Centre, as there may be additional information about her Father, and may be the Regiment for Frank Glover.

Also have you checked the Electoral Register to see who was living at the address in Sheffield.

I would have thought that, Mavis, would have been on the Overseas Births on FindMyPast, I have check and she is not there

May have found Pearl in 1911.  Looks like bridesmaid child  I found, but just one and not two.

Pearl Ruby Hunter age 4 b Maidstone Kent.
Father, James Robert Hunter b Hilsea Hants.
Mother, Lucy Margaret Hunter b Secunderal  India,  British,  difficult to read.
18 Beatrice Rd Margate Kent.

The transcription was wrong, age 47 on image age 4,why she could not be found, have emailed FindMyPast with correction.
Also written beside Pearl Rubys name on image,S,,,,,,,by parentage,,,,
Can some one check this please.
