Ladyhawk,

Agreed this is not Margaret.

Currently my thoughts are that she was awarded her Honours in 1962 MBE.

Of which from details supplied I have a feeling that she has returned to Uganda in 1958.

Some thought being that she may have worked in England on her return in 1954 either for the Overseas Service in England or possibly the Embassy Uganda (as Britain was still in control)

Then went back to Uganda. Receiving her Honours for work done say 1954-1961.

I am contacting my brother in Canada to see if he has further info (as he is older than me) ;D

It's  a  shame I  no    longer work   at the  Foreign  Office ! ( left   29 years ago  )    otherwise  I could have  looked her  up   in the  old directories  !,  and I've  no contacts there  anymore  to  ask !

From what  I recall  Diplomatic  postings   were   about 2/ 3  years  in any one  place  ,  so  Margaret  may well  have done  a  few  more  postings before  retirement ,   maybe she died abroad?  FindMyPast website   has , I think,   Consular    records  for  BMDs  abroad ,  have  you  tried that  site ?  I no longer subscribe   to  FindMyPast so  can't  look her  up

Possible I  suppose  but  as  Margaret was born  1906/7 a little  old   to  be  a  Mum  ( this  being  before   the various     things to  help  older women become mothers !)
