(Completed)1861 Census - Where is Phoebe Maria Gill (b 1841 Tipton)?
« on: Saturday 04 January 14 13:02 GMT (UK) »
Hi,

I'm struggling to find a census entry for my great-great-great-grandmother: Phoebe Maria Gill (b 1841 Tipton). I have located her in the other census years but not 1861

Census 1851
Dimmocks Lane Sedgely STAFFS
GILL, Joseph - Head - Married - M - 46 - Coal Miner - Sedgley Parish, Staffordshire
GILL, Selima - Wife - Married - F-  43  Westbromwich, Staffordshire
GILL, Phoebe M- Daughter - Unmarried - F - 10 - Sedgley Parish, Staffordshire
(cont.....)

Census 1871
Chell High Park, Chell STAFFS
CALLEAR, Samuel - Head - M - 32 - Shropshire
CALLEAR, Phoebe Maria - Wife - F - 30 - Staffordshire
(cont.....)

I believe she married ~1863, so she would still be a Gill (not Callear) at this time.

Can anyone help to find her?? (please!) She must be lost in a typo/mis-transcription somewhere.

Hmmm, I used the FindMyPast website which does not seem to return any matches for this data.

Can you advise as to the address to which this entry relates?

[33] Phoebe/Phebe data now processed

Mystery over. Located the census record on FindMyPast - they'd transcribed Gill as Gile. I had to laugh as she appears to be living next door to my gt-gt-gt-grandad (her future husband!!). She appears on the previous page on the census - so close for all this time!!

Thanks again judi2632  ;)
