Lunn / Lun
« on: Monday 20 June 05 02:55 BST (UK) »
I'm researching the Lunn/Luns of Hawick and Cavers. My 5th great grandparents were Walter Lun & Elizabeth Turnbull, married 1 Nov 1765, Hawick.  Walter's parents seem to be James Lun (c: 1701 Cavers) & Helen Rae (c: 1711 Hawick).  Does anyone have a connection to these people?  :D

Here is a "LUNN" in Hawick for you....I went through the 2 monumental inscriptions that I have and found:

"MARGARET LUNN"   born c 1760
                               died Sept 25 1830 (age 70)
                         Wife of William Thornburn.

Let me know how that works for you...was there any other surnames and dates of  folks in Hawick

Hi, my wife is 4th grand-daughter to Walter and Elizabeth (her grandmother was a Lunn).  Happy to share more information, and would be interested to hear the source of your James Lunn and Helen Rae information?   :)

Shazamm . In Brierylaw cemetery Selkirk there is a stone erectedby the children to their mother Elizabeth Turnbull but unfortunately her date of death is unreadable but the children were Elizabeth born 21-9-1862 died 21-9-1915 Walter born 4-9-1866 died 26-8-1916 Joan born 31-12-1855 died 17-3-1927.
With a Walter and a Elizabeth i think it could be your family.
