Your right, i misread the census.
I read Sam, who appears underneath james in the 1911 census and was born in Eckington.
Its not him. James who was 17 in 1911 from Dudley, died in 1974, so its not him either.
We're looking for a james who dies before 1939, and i presume ot much older or younger than the mother.
Which Bytheways do you have in your family??
The funny thing is Suz, Sam, James's younger brother fits the bill perfectly to be James...
