Quinton Govan Ballantyne
« on: Thursday 09 January 14 20:36 GMT (UK) »
Hi

My grandfather's cousin Quinton Govan Ballantyne was born in 1892 in Greenock, Scotland. He emigrated to the USA in 1914 with his wife Margaret. He had at least six children all born in the USA between 1916 and 1926: John Quinton, William John, Matthew, Jean E, Margaret, Ida. It is just possible that some of the younger ones may still be alive so please don't mention them on the open forum. He seems to have lived all his life in the USA in Troy, Rensselaer.

I have quite a bit of information about Quinton Govan Ballantyne. I have a family photograph that I believe to be Quinton's father, but can't be sure. I would dearly like to get in touch with a descendent of Quinton to see if I can identify the photograph via family resemblance, or even better, a photograph of Quinton's father.

Anyone have any idea how I could get in touch with a descendant?

Any help much appreciated, regards

Liz

This is an open forum that can be Googled, and the rule is not to post about people who are or may be living.

Ida Ballantyine is on the Social Security Death Index with a death date of 6 Oct. 1997.  John Q. is on there also with a death date of 26 Aug. 1998.  William appears to have died on 6 Feb. 1997.

On www.fultonhistory.com, there are Troy newspapers that will likely have many mentions of this family.  In a brief search, I found the obituary for Quinton's wife and a 1971 wedding announcement for John's daughter.

Liz,

As chance would have it I was reviewing my information on Quintin Ballantyne yesterday as I picked up my research after a break. Quintin is my grand-father's brother and I have quite a bit of information on him. My grand-father was Matthew Ballantyne.

I, too have a picture of Matthew and Quintin's father in Port Bannatyne, Isle of Bute. I would be happy to share with you. I would also be interested in any information on the descendants of Quintin. I have quite a lot but living in the UK makes it difficult to follow up local sources.

Regards
Iain
