Mary Taylor bapt 3 September 1807 Houghton le Spring

Joseph Taylor bapt 3 August 1809 Houghton le Spring

Mary Ann Taylor bapt 7 September 1811 Houghton le Spring

Please could you give the full baptism entries - Durham baptisms of this time should normally contain the name of the 'native parish' of the parents, which might be most useful to you in tracing William's parentage  :)

Houghton le Spring baptisms are available via the Durham Bishops Transcripts on Family Search   http://www.rootschat.com/links/0xlh/ , Durham Records Online and freeReg.

If anyone has any suggestions or leads as to his birthplace I would be interested to know. I have searched for it for years without success. Thank you.

There is also a possible candidate showing up (on Durham Records Online) in West Auckland , which was William's native parish.

Hi!
Thanks for the reply! I have checked the baptisms and came up with the following:

William Taylor was baptised at St Helens, Auckland on 1 April 1781, son of Mathew Taylor and his wife Mary Harrison who were married on 3 August 1780 at St Helens, Auckland.

William Taylor was buried at Houghton le Spring on 6 September 1813 aged 32 years of age. His widow Jane Taylor married as her second husband Henry Rochester in 1820 at Houghton le Spring.

Will do another listing for William Taylor so people don't get confused! Thanks! :)
