I am with you on this one Alma,
Your line of enquiry was started because you were trying to ascertain if Bridget Doolaughty was the daughter of your  direct ancestors.

Bridget's marriage to John Kennedy confirms what you had hoped.
Only Bridget herself, could have provided the names of her parents on that marriage cert.
Then there is the birth of Annie. Her birth confirms that she was the daughter of John and Bridget

All the other, conflicting info was provided by Bridget's own children.... after her death.

Yes I think the records all pertain to Bridget Dooloughty/McCutchion/Kennedy too.
As I said someone had their wires crossed ;D
I think we forget sometimes that people probably forgot exactly how old their father/mother was especially when they had no paperwork/documents to give them all the details.

On that note...
People do get confused, even when they know!

My dads's younger brother died 10yrs ago. He was married/widowed with just one daughter ( she is older than me).
Although our grandfather died before either of us were born, we both knew our paternal grandmother. My cousin spent a lot of time with our grandmother. We all called her by her 1st name.

I was at the GRO recently, and looked at my uncles death cert. ( wasn't sure how old he was)
His daughter, my cousin, registered the death.
She must have been in a state when she registered the death because I can't believe who she named as his parents.
She named a random person as our grandfather, but then named her own maternal grandmother as his mother??
( I have  seen her parents marriage cert and know she named her maternal grandmother, rather than our shared paternal one)

I may have located birth of a son John Kennedy McKenney of James McKenney and Sarah Kennedy McKenney  -  John Kennedy McKenney born 10 Oct 1881, Rutherglen, father James McKenney and mother Sarah Kennedy McKenney...    A later death of a John Kennedy McKenney in 1883 on SP but I do not have age at date of death!

Could this be child of James McKenna and Sarah Kennedy...another piece of the puzzle perhaps.

I have now 3 A4 pages listing some of Bridget's descendants.  This has been a rewarding and interesting journey for me and it would not have taken place without the assistance of fellow researchers.  I am indeed most grateful
