Poland - Jerzy Kaminski 1895-1981.

Can anyone give me any deatails about Jerzy (George) Kaminski please?

I know that he was of Polish origin, born 10 November 1895 I believe in Poland.   He married Dorothy Joan Wernham in Chelsea, London 1947 and died in Kingston upon Thames in December 1981.   I have no idea when he came to Britain.

He had a son by a previous marriage, but I don't know his name or who his mother was.

I think George (as he was known) was probably in the Polish forces (or maybe the British) in either or both World Wars - on one of the London electoral registers he has Lt. Col. after his name.

Can anyone help with more information please?

Thanks for your reply.   He could be one of those, but it's difficult to know.   I would very much appreciate you looking at them next time you are at the archives, if it's not too much trouble.   

As far as I know he and Dorothy lived in London all the time they were married (which was in 1947, most probably in Chelsea Registry Office).   His date of birth was given on his death record as 10.11.1895, where his name was given as Jerzy George Kaminski.   I only knew him as George and found Jerzy when I was searching for Dorothy's marriage to him.

Unfortunately I don't have a copy of the marriage certificate and have no idea of his father's name or profession.

I never knew that he was born in Russia.   Family rumour was that he was a Polish Count, but I have no idea if that was true.   However, if his father was a Polish diplomat, that could explain why they were in Russia perhaps
