William Lawes/Laws of Chopwell, Ryton
« on: Wednesday 29 January 14 11:37 GMT (UK) »
Hi!
Can anyone help with the following?

I have a William Lawes marrying Ann Bell on 29th December 1729 at Ryton. They had the following issue:

Robert Lawes 1734 (of Horsegate)

Ann Lawes bapt May 1736 (of Chopgate)

Cuthbert Lawes bapt May 1736 (of Chopgate)

John Lawes bapt 1st October 1738 (of Chopwell Wood)

William Lawes bapt 22nd March 1741 (of Chopwell)

George Lawes bapt 4th August 1745 (of Chopwell Eastwood)

All children baptised at Ryton.

There are a number of trees on Ancestry which give different parents for William Lawes senior? One states his father was a Robert Lawes born circa 1637 and dying in 1745 aged 108 years old (but he would be around 70 when William was born?!), and another states a William born in 1676 at Chester - le - Street was the father?

Possible parent for Ann Bell is a Cuthbert Bell born around 1672 at Ryton, son of a John Bell?

Any help with possible parents or anything really much appreciated! :)

Hi

There is one more you can consider

William Lawes bp. 15 Feb. 1701 Lamesley. Father: William. Abode: Kibblesworth.

No mother listed on record. It's also about 9miles from Ryton.

There is a book on the internet which give a different year for the marriage, 1733 instead of 1729
