1901 census military info? ANSWERED

My great uncle William Rudd was in the 17th Lancers.  I have found him on the 1911 census in India but cannot find him on the 1901 census.  He may have been with the Lancers in South Africa in 1901.  If he was, would this information have been recorded on the 1901 census for England?

Any help would be much appreciated.

As far as I know, the 1911 census was the first to include Overseas Military?

It's included as a "county" in Ancestry and FindMyPast, but only on 1911.

The 1911 Census was the first one to have a full enumeration carried out of the British Army serving overseas, including details of wives and families. In earlier censuses the military authorities only provided the Census Office  with the numbers of officers, other ranks, wives and children, either by place or by regiment. Those serving at home have always been enumerated
