« on: Thursday 06 February 14 21:50 GMT (UK) »
I am trying to find any information about William Honeybun born about 1813.  Married  Susaanah Davies , they moved around but were on the Isle of Wight, think his wife was from the Island.

Any information would be appreciated

Thanks

Tracy

Hi,

There are several trees on Ancestry, all giving his birthplace as Exminster, Devon.  A copy of his marriage certificate should show his occupation; also the name and occupation of his father.

From FreeBMD marriages:

William Honeybunn   DecQ 1840    I of Wight 8  365.

Copies cost £9.25 and can be ordered online from GRO, usually take 1 week to arrive:

The 1861 census (where he is Honeybourne) gives his place of birth as Exminster (ie Axminster), and Susannah's as Newport, IoW. William is a bricklayer's labourer.

In 1851, where he is William Vaune (!), his pob is Devonshire (hers is still Newport) and he is a sweep.

there is a William Honeybourne/Honibon baptised in Axminster in 1802, son of Mary, but that is about ten years too early.

There is a William Honeybone/bun/borne of the right age who is in and out of Dorchester prison between 1831 and 1840. He is from Radipole, which is thirty miles along the coast from Axminster (but on the way to the IoW!). he was also given one year's imprisonment in 1840, so it's difficult to see how he could marry in 1840.

I can give further details if you can't find them.

I have got managed to find his certifcate of marriage when he married Susannah and gives his fathers name as Robert Honeybun.  I am related to him through the Vaughans which they used as well as Honeybun and Atkins.

It's so confusing , but thanks for all your help,

Tracy
