Hi Sandy

You could search The National Archives site:

http://discovery.nationalarchives.gov.uk/SearchUI

or The London Gazette:

http://www.london-gazette.co.uk/search

Be aware that more recent documents will be closed.

Using a wildcard search on freebmd.rootsweb.com for surname Bondar* shows up a good possiblity, "Bondarczuk" - there are some naturalisations on the NA catalogue for Polish persons using this name.

Note that it is possible for someone to have changed their name without it appearing in the London Gazette.

You may see naturalisations where additional names ("otherwise" or "known as") are listed - some of these may have been changes by deed poll, but others are just recording the fact that the person had more than one name they used.

Similarly you will sometimes see bmd certificates with multiple names - for various reasons, including immigrants who took more English sounding names. There might have been a period of time where the family used both names, then the younger generation all just used "Bondar", for example.
