1870 Cambridge Court Case
« on: Thursday 13 February 14 17:50 GMT (UK) »
I'm looking for information about a case in Oct 1870 involving Station Master Crooke against labourers including Joseph Impey who might have been my gg Grandfather. Station was either Hoxton or Foxton.  It would be good to know what it was all about!

You might want to look in the British Newspaper Archive www.britishnewspaperarchive.co.uk - the Cambridge Independent Press has an article on the assault of Thomas Crooke from 29 Oct 1870.
Also appears to be a number of other articles on various Impeys!

Thanks for your help. Further research shows that gg granddad must have been dead by then as gg granny married again in the same village before 1870 so this chap could not be a direct ancestor. Hopefully mine was less prone to fighting!
