"Completed" George REAY b: 1847 Newcastle
« on: Monday 17 February 14 19:08 GMT (UK) »
Trying to find the census for 1871 for George (he was a Cooper) and his family.

Wife:
Sarah Ann (nee Cook) b: 1849 Newcastle.

Children:
James b: 1869
Elizabeth Ann b: 1870

I have the later census records. In 1881 they were living on Cook St. Byker.  They are not with any other family members that I can see. Have tried to vary the spelling Reay/Wreay/Wray etc. but no luck there.

Any help would be most appreciated

Richard

This looks like them

1871 census

George Reary  23
 Sarah Jane  21
 James Jane  2
 Elizth Ann Jane  9 Months

RG10/5105/59 p 20

NB Jane is not a surname but wrongly transcribed name carried down to the children
James Stott c1775-1850. James was born in Yorkshire but where? He was a stonemason and married Elizabeth Archer (nee Nicholson) in 1794 at Ripon. They lived thereafter in Masham. If anyone has any suggestions or leads as to his birthplace I would be interested to know. I have searched for it for years without success. Thank you.

Brilliant.

"Reary' was not a spelling variation that occurred to me  ;D

Thanks very much
