Does anyone have access to Irish birth records?
« on: Thursday 20 February 14 08:44 GMT (UK) »
James O'Neill born on the 12th March 1940 in Ireland, died 2005 in Erewash (April?).
Emigrated from Ireland to England at some point in his life and was married in 1967.
I'm looking for where in Ireland he was born. He has also been known to be called Jim and Seamus (perhaps his name prior to migrating over to England).
Any help would be great, especially a mother's maiden name.
Many thanks

Irish civil indexes are free on line to search.

There's two but because of the lack of a birth date and month I'm unsure as to which one.

birth:   January 1940 / March 1940   Castlecomer, Ireland
mother P
Name    James O'Neill
1940's
Place    Castlecomer, Ireland
 Year 1940's
   Castlecomer

James S O'Neill

In this one, the S could be Seamus
birth   Clones, Ireland
mother   A
Name    James S O'Neill
Date    1940's
 Place   Clones, Ireland

Mother's Maiden Name   A

We cannot post details of people who are possibly alive.  I know you are looking for someone who is deceased but you dont know which one is yours, so either could be still alive.

Hello,

His marriage certificate would have his father's name. You could then apply for a birth certificate with the details you have.

I have found a death notice for the first James, 20th December 2013.
Must be the second James!

Just to note James in our native language is Seamus.
