Hi,
I am also researching Frederick William Hillyard (my husband's G grandfather via Frederick's daughter, Florence). I have sent you a separate message through Ancestry. I have a lot of info on Fred but nothing on his wife, Elizabeth Foster. I'd love to compare notes - and to see how you are related.

There is an inactive public tree which gives the death date for Elizabeth as 26 August 1919. IF this is correct then Elizabeth and Frederick died less than 3 weeks apart.  1919 was, of course, the time of the flu epidemic which killed many.

This public tree suggests that Elizabeth's birth date is 13 April 1864 but there is no supporting evidence or place given.  There is another which fits better with her age as given in the death registration.

Victoria 1861 #19390
Elizabeth FOSTER
Father's Name:   John Foster
Mother's name:   Ann Smith
Birth Place:   Sandridge, Victoria

The marriage certificate should give the name of her father, her place of birth and her age.

These suggestions are only speculative.

From my resource

Marriage
FOSTER Elizabeth  born Warrnambool
HILLYARD Frederick William born London
1884  Reg#5597

Perhaps Elizabeth was incorrect with her place of birth as she appears to have a sister born at Warrnambool in 1864.  So often people confuse their place of birth with the place where they were raised.

Birth
FOSTER Ann
Father John  Mother Ann SMITH
At Warrnambool  1864  Reg#1221

A brother John was born at Sandridge in 1858.  Reg#16414

Cheers :)
Cando
