Edward Leonard Read-Stella M Turner
« on: Saturday 22 February 14 10:26 GMT (UK) »
My relative Edward Leonard Read was born in Enfield Middlesex in 1911 and died in 1967 in Enfield. He married a Stella M Turner at Ware Hertfordshire in 1941.It is this Stella M Turner that I'm struggling to find info for.It is believed that she died last year 26/03/2013 in Enfield. It doesn't readily appear that she re-married.Apart from a possible birth in 1917 at St George Hanover Square there don't appear to be too many alternatives for her birth?

Hi WR

Have you considered that Turner was a married name and her first husband died/divorced.

There are a few marriages/poss deaths  that might match. For  e.g.  a marriage for a S* M Lambert to a Robert G Turner in Norfolk in 1934 and a death for a Robert G Turner in Greenwich in 1939.

Just a thought.

Added - Also a birth for a S* M* Lambert in  same place as marriage in 1910

(she just  might be still alive so have asterisked out the full name, in case.)

I know that you won't like me saying this but the acquisition of the marriage/birth cert would give you some relevant information  :-X

I see that Edward is a very distant relative, so I understand why you wouldn't want to pay for certs. Apart from the St George H S one, there are 2 other possibles  - both in 1921 - Kings Norton and Rochford.

What was the age of the one who died last year?

Thanks Gadget, whilst I'm looking to find details for this particular corner of my Tree,I'm also considering the fact that Ancestry list the Edward Leonard Read as my fifth cousin 1x removed!

I can't find out her age for definite, she must havee been a decent age.Thats all I can say.

Whilst one or two trees on Ancestry list her death, not one has birth details.

If you look at the tree, you will find that Edward's sister married a Norman H L Turner (1918-1989)*.  His parents were a Thomas B Turner and a Hilda Susie Crace.

The 1917  Stella has mother's maiden name as Crace.
