The elusive Tom Jones!!
« on: Tuesday 25 February 14 11:25 GMT (UK) »
Hi folks,

Wonder if you can help me track down Thomas Jones.  I have hardly any info on him but his son is William Jones b.1845 South Sheilds - wife Mary Jones, they had two children Ann Ellen b. 1869 Trimdon and Benjamin b.1872.   See the two census's - RG10 pce 4911 fol 69 p.26 and RG11 pce 4904 fol 24 p.41

Marriage for William and Mary is Jun 1870 Auckland 10a 273.  Mary's maiden name is Pearcy.  William's father is stated as Thomas Jones and he was a Tailor.

I can't find any info prior to the above two census's and can't find a birth for William let alone Thomas!  I'm wondering if William's birth place is incorrect on the census?

Any help would be most appreciated.

Thank you  :)

Hi,

Yes I also found John and Eleanor Jones but don't think that is my line  :(

And Yes I also found the Thomas Jones born Ireland.......not exactly sure if that is my line though?  How do I prove it?  It would make sense apart from the fact my William's place of birth said South Shields on the census!!??  Like I said this info could be incorrect.  I found the marriage for William and Mary on IGI Family Search and it didn't state a place of birth for William??

Scratching head ???

Yes I've also had different info on each census!!  I've learned NOT to take everything as gospel now ::)

But.....saying that, the Liverpool William is in one census and my William is in another census showing him living in Trimdon.....so he can't be in BOTH surely??

I think it needs looking at closer though.

Thanks for your help people  :)

Still no wiser though ???
