Police personel early 1900

On my tree is a chap who was discharged from the British Army in 1906 at Potchefstroom I believe he joined the police force He had a daughter in Petoria in 1907. Is there any where I can find anything about his life in South Africa I would like to be able to confirm that he was in the police there and to find if he married there I can't find a marriage in England but as he was a serving soldier he could have married anywhere he was stationed.
His details are;
Jesse Pilgrim born 1874  Berkshire England Died somewhere in South Africa about 1910
