My married name is Childs, but they don't come from Essex.  What interested me is the surnames Lilley, and Rayner.
Both of these surnames are in my family in Wivenhoe, Essex.

Any connections.

Hi Janette, the Childs and Rayner names come from hubby's side of the family and Lilley is from mine.

On hubby's fathers side there is Sophia Childs chr 1784 Chignal St James, Essex, died 1845 Chelmsford, married to Samuel Fewell b 1789 Great Waltham, Essex.  Sophia's parents were Thomas and Mary, she was one of 9 children.

On his mothers side there is Sophia Helen Child b 1867 Grafton NSW, died abt 1942 Grafton, married 1886 Grafton to Andrew Gosper b 1861 Richmond NSW.  Parents Benjamin Child and Helen Austen.

Emma Maria Lilley b 1857 Raglan, Victoria died 1924 Footscray, Melbourne, married 1st in 1875 Raglan, Vic to Jack Pope and 2nd in 1885 Ballarat, Vic to Duncan Donald Kennedy.  Parents Luke Lilley b 1814 Northampton, UK and Cordelia Davis b 1817 Geddington, Northampton.  I've gone back another 3 generations from this.

I have been researching Everitts for a while from the Wakes Colne, Chappel and Great/Little Tey. One of my great grandfathers Zachariah Everitt married a Frances Gould in 1834. I would like to know of your Everitt interests.
Thanks
Viv

Elizabeth Rayner is not related.  Nor are the Rayner's as far as I can see at the moment.  My Lilley's are only in Essex.
Our Childs are from Hampshire, and no names are familiar, though took a photo of a Childs headstone in Wivenhoe Cemetery whilst there, but it is in the 1940s.
The one thing I can tell you is that there was a family Benjamin Childs in Grafton, NSW.
Sorry can't tie any of the others up.

Janette, apologies to you also for not replying sooner to your post.
I already have the Benjamin Child you mentioned [descendant of hubbies] although very little info on him unfotunately - only a marriage date of 1866 in Grafton to a Helen Austen b 1841 Sydney.  I have their children and all their info though.
Cheers
