Baptism Maria Parker 1824
« on: Monday 03 March 14 15:51 GMT (UK) »
Hi All,

Hope somebody here can interpret this for me. I've attached a section from the baptism register for St Nicholas RC, Dublin from 1824. The baptism is that of Maria Parker but what I can't make out is the section where the parents names would normally be. It appears to say "Ejusden et Ejusden" and indeed that is what has been transcribed into the digital record.
I've tried googling it but nothing satisfactory pops up.
Would anybody have any idea what it might mean.

Thanks in advance
Cheers
Phil

I noticed from Irish Genealogy that the name above it is similar as are the sponsors names so i wonder does it mean something like same as and same as. possibly twins.

Dathai

Yep, I believe you are right.
Thanks a million I hadn't noticed the same names above and that would certainly explain it.

Thanks again
Cheers

Looking online the latin words "ejusdem generis" mean "of the same kind"
cowan, sinnott, duffy, addi, conlon, halpin, (dublin) dowling, mcdonald, donnelly (dublin, newcastle upon tyne and tyrone)

Hi pet50ite,

Thanks for your reply.
Yep I had seen that translation on-line but didn't realise the significance of it. It was only when Dathai pointed out that on the original register the same surname appeared in the entry above that it made sense to me.
I should have payed more attention in Latin classes in secondary school. Bit late now.

Cheers
