The information I have on Albert Edward Fletcher is that he was born 1896 died on 19 Nov 1922 aged 26 in caxton workhouse of phthisis. Buried 23 Nov 1922 in eltisley.

He fought in the Great War and was a prisoner in Germany.

I have drawn a complete blank so any information gratefully received.

There is a 1901 entry for an Albert Fletcher b Swaffham Bulbeck parents David and Rose.  However - he is only 2yrs old whereas he would be 4yrs old if the 1897 birth reg is his.

The family were living in the Newmarket Reg District in 1901 and there is another  Albert Fletcher birth that would fit the 1901 profile

Swaffham B was part of the Newmarket RD

I am a member of Eltisley History Society and we are publishing a book in July to honour the 14 men from Eltisley who died in WW1. Albert Edward Fletcher is on an old handwritten list of men from the village who fought in WW1. I have tried researching his military history and have found a couple of maybe's but nothing conclusive. I found the record of his death on Ancestry and have just ordered his death cert, hoping this will help. We know nothing about his parents or any other details.  Frustrating!!

He may not have been born in Eltisley - or even in Cambs.  He may have just lived there.

Eltisley came under the Caxton registration district but there is no birth reg there for his name
