Looking for help tracing this ladies death
.Margaret Fagan was born 7/6/1893 at Young's Land Strathbungo  illegitimate daughter of Mary Ann Fagan. On 12-03-1904 mother requested removal to asylum aged 10 she was certified imbicile settlement Govan. Mother now married to Thomas Sturgeon. 15/02/1913 boarded with Mrs Hunter , Hillhead Balfron Stirlingshire at 7/- per week and 10/- from 19/06/1918. I cannot trace Margaret after this date. No death certificate found, tried Fagan /Sturgeon without success. Any information would be great. Alexanderina.

I presume you have tried variations of spelling of Fagan?

Also that you have a copy of the poor relief records for both Margaret and her mother?

I wonder if her death could have been registered as Hunter - if she had been with Mrs Hunter long enough then maybe whoever registered it thought she was Mrs H's daughter?

The other possibility is that she might have been moved to an asylum when Mrs Hunter died, and they might have thought the same. Have you found out when Mrs H died?

If my tree is anything to go by, lots of people 'just disappeared'  :-\
Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.

Thank you Forfarian and Bleckie, I have now tried SP and I am no further forward, I have no idea where to turn next.
She is from my husbands side of family and by coincidence my great grandmother was also named Margaret Hunter.
Thanks again.
Alexanderina.

I'm surprised that the Poor Relief records, assuming you have them, don't follow her through. Though I suppose you might fall foul of a 100-year closure.

Found out the 100 years rule applies to children and for adults it is 75 years, as the settlement was originally in Govan do you think this information would be held at Mitchell Library?
Thank you, Alexanderina.
