Have you tried this possible death for Patrick ?

Patrick Crowe
Jan-Feb-Mar 1894
Age at death 38
District Enniscorthy
Volume 4 Page 542

Enniscorty can cover Carlow too !

If it was the correct cert then it wold hopefully have an address on it !

Your patrick married in 1877 so you take an average of 20 years off his marriage to give him a birth circa 1857 too young to be on Griffiths Valuation ,its his father James you should be looking for.

Hi Tara,
I had not thought of anywhere other than Carlow mainly because my great grandfather worked on the Browneshill estate.
I have only used records I have got from the G.R.O. so I'm not quite sure to use the reference that you have supplied so if you could give me some guidance I would be very grateful.

Hiya

Those references that I posted are the standard ones !

I think for the sake of 4 euro it would be worth the gamble.

I don't think there is any other avenue that I can see at the mo !

Tara,

You can order a photocopy of the certificate from GRO Roscommon for €4.  http://www.welfare.ie/en/Pages/Apply-for-Certificates.aspx

You have to download and print off the form. Then either post or fax it back to them. You can’t e-mail it to them. However if you want them to e-mail the cert to back to you, they will do that, so tick the relevant box.

Put the reference details on the form (anywhere). Don’t worry about leaving some boxes blank. As long as GRO have the location, name(s), year, quarter (where there is one), volume and page number they should find it.

Hi All,
Thank for all of your help, I am aware of the ordering of certs just wasn't sure of the ref. no's as I have always been able to order using names dates, and areas.
I think what  I was asking was do these ref. no's come from the L.D.S. site, as I have never been too sure how to use these.

             With thank's,Diarmuid.

The ref numbers are from the index books of the GRO, transcribed by the LDS. So mistakes possible although I've never had a problem so far.

The LDS will also have it's own numbers on each record but these are of no use when ordering Certs.
Apart from name, area etc you just need the Vol number and the Page number.

Hi Sinann,

Thank's for the help with the ref nos. that is going to be useful in the future, as I said in an earlier post I have always been able to use name, date and location up until now. I have been lucky to have these as known points of reference.

            Regards Diarmuid.
