Henderson Street Westoe

I am having some difficulty in locating the above address. I have looked at the 1896 OS Godfrey edition reprint and cannot find Henderson Street. I have this address on a birth certificate for 1881.
50 Henderson Street Westoe USD. Registration District South Shields- Sub District Westoe.

Any help appreciated

It could be Henderson's Lane, although there does not seem to be a number 50, in the 1881 census. It was in the area east of Commercial Road between Nile Street and Laygate Street. You can see it on the 1896 Town Plan at http://www.old-maps.co.uk/maps.html?coords=435715,566488 just south of Hill Street, opposite The Banks of the Tyne Hotel. Small streets like this will not be shown on the Godfrey edition reprint as this is from the 1/2500 scale map.

Are you sure that 50 is the address and not the certificate number?

Definitely Number 50, the certificate number is 91.

I did wonder as the description is Henderson Street USD if the Westoe area covered any part of the Borough towards Jarrow - I am assuming, rightly or wrongly that perhaps USD stands for Urban Sanitary District.
My reasoning for the Jarrow link is that the mother in question is shown in 1881 Census as living at Frederick Street Jarrow (but under a different name!) The birth in question is just two months later in June.

I will continue to ponder.

USD does stand for Urban Sanitary District. A street search on FindMyPast does not have a Henderson Street in Westoe, South Shields, or Jarrow in the 1881 census.

I think I need to check with South Tyneside Register Office as to the accuracy of the Certificate. It is a transcription from their register not the GRO copy.

Checked with Register Office this morning- should have been 50 Stevenson Street.
