I'm not sure if I'm confusing myself now as we seem to be travelling the country a bit :-\ Yorkshire in 1871/1881 and then to Kent/Surrey for 1891/1901/1911 and a change of career for Joseph from working in brickworks to becoming a gardener! ???

Certainly got the right family at Heath lodge in 1911 but puzzled as to the whereabouts of Mary being absent from family on 1891 and 1901 census when she would have been 17yrs (1901) and only 10yrs on 1891.. Unless with other relatives...

With reference to Edith Maud Blackburn and Maggie Jane Blackburn mentioned previously:
1881 Census
Brickworks Fall Head Dodworth
Joseph Blackburn, 34, manager of brickworks. born Penwortham, Lancs
Ellen, 28, Queenstown Ireland
Ellen Eliz. daughter,5, born Queenstown Ireland
Thomas Henry, son, 4, born Birmingham
Maggie Jane, daughter,2 born Dodworth
Edith Maud, daughter, 5 months born Dodworth

1871 Census
Fens Road Brick Yard Bronington Ellesmere, Joseph Blackburn head of family age 24 and unmarried , living with brothers, sisters and two nieces.

1891 Census Little Hulton Lancashire:
Jno Blackburn, 39, born Ireland, Foreman Brickmaker, wife Jane born Manchester. Edith Maud Blackburn, 10, niece born Barnsley, Maggie Jane Blackburn, 12, born Barnsley.

Getting more confused by the minute :-\

1901 census both sisters are living in Lancashire with their aunt Jane who is now widowed. Edith M, 20, niece born Dodworth, Margaret J, 22, niece born Dodworth.

So are these two sisters to Mary and Alice Blackburne mentioned right at the beginning of this search ???

So easy to get confused when similar information can lead to crossed wires, but looking at the finer details on the 1911 census can straighten things out and allow for us to discount people from the search! Still looking for Mary though in 1891 ::)
