An address in Dundee, Scotland *** COMPLETED ***

Hi

Can anyone tell me what the address is on the attached section of a marriage registration please?  It looks like Heymonhill Terrace, but that doesn't exist.  I's got me baffled.

My guess is Hermonhill. The bit below the line is a curl on the capital D.

I was thinking Hermonhill too.  There is no such address on current maps on Google, however, there are Hermonhill Apartments at 25 Perth Ave, Dundee. I'm wondering whether the original Hermonhill Terrace was located in the vacinity.

http://maps.nls.uk/geo/records/ have large scale [25 inch to the mile] scanned maps for various dates. Put Dundee in the search box - you can see Perth Road. I haven't scrutinised them yet but you may be able to find Hermonhill Terrace leading from Perth Road.

I found this reference to it on http://photopolis.dundeecity.gov.uk/ :

"The taller building is called Hermonhill, the smaller houses to the left Hermonhill Terrace. The terrace was built in c.1891, Hermonhill itself (listed in the Dundee Directory as Nos. 21-27 Perth Road) in c.1887."

The area marked as Hermonhill on the map is now occupied by university buildings.

& put Dundee in the search field, you can access georeferenced maps - this means you have an overlay of satellite images that you can bring in on a sliding scale. So you can see the grounds of Hermonhill change into the university buildings mentioned by Annie65115. The Map Library of the National Library of Scotland have put together a wonderful resource here for most of Britain.
