Carter family in Honley, Yorkshire 1851
« on: Tuesday 11 March 14 10:02 GMT (UK) »
Hi,

In the hope of finding parents/grandparents, I'm trying to find Benjamin Carter, born 1808 in Honley, with his wife Margaret (nee Schofield).  Children are:

Edward 1830
John 1833
Sarah Ann 1835
Stanley 1837
Hannah 1839
Harriett 1840
Benjamin 1844
Joseph 1849
Mary Ann 1851 and
Emma 1857

I've got them in the 1841, 1861 & 1871 censuses but am missing the '51.

Any help appreciated.

Thank you!

Hi

Here you go! What's in a name Carter, Carker..... ;)

1851: Farend Lane, Honley,
HO107 - Piece  2292 / Folio 52 / Pg43
Head: Benjamin CARTER 42, Cordwainer (Master), b Honley
Wife: Margaret 42, b Halifax
Son: Edward 21, unm, Cordwainer, b Honley
Son: John 18, unm, Woollen Spinner, b Honley
Son: Stanley 13, b Honley
Dau: Harriet 11, At Home, b Honley
Son: Benjamin 7, Scholar, b Honley
Son: Joseph 3,
Dau: Mary Ann 3 weeks,
Son: George KENWORTHY 16, unm, Cordwainer (App), b Clayton

Definitely  says 'Son' for KENWORTHY's relationship to Benjamin Snr - poss enumeratprs's error?

Cheers

Thanks AMBLY!  I knew someone would be able to help.

Kenworthy was the maiden name of Margaret Carter (Schofield) so I should be able to work something else out now.

Really delighted - thank you!

My mistake, Ann Kenworthy was the mother of Benjamin Carter, not Margaret Schofield.
