*COMPLETED* Where in Fife was/is Braucehaven ?
« on: Sunday 16 March 14 17:35 GMT (UK) »
Hi,

I have been reading an article: 2nd paragraph, 8th sentence on: http://www.merchantnavyofficers.com/benline.html

Would this possibly be what/where is known today as "Buckhaven" ? & if so how did the transition occur ? as it seems peculiar    :-\

More likely to be Brucehaven, Limekilns, near Dunfermline; it was a a fishing village for centuries and still has a promenade and a sailing club, so was clearly a place likely to have a boatyard big enough to construct a small barque in the nineteenth century.

Brucehaven is also a lot closer to Alloa than Buckhaven
