ASHMOLE Findern, Jeremiah ASHMOLE
« on: Monday 17 March 14 13:32 GMT (UK) »
Hi

I`m looking for information on the ASHMOLE family of Findern who I have
recently started researching. They seem an interesting bunch!

Maria ASHMOLE (1781-1851) was my 4 x great grandmother. She was one of, I
think, 10 children of Thomas ASHMOLE and Elizabeth ERPE.

I`m currently investigating one of Maria`s nephews  Jeremiah ASHMOLE
(1808-1880). His parents I think were Maria`a brother Jeremiah ASHMORE
(1774-1855) and Sarah CROSLEY.

Jeremiah the younger can be traced in Birmingham as a licensed victualler in
the 1851 and 1861 census and as a retired victualler in Nottingham in 1871.

My query is whether there is any information available about the staff at
Willersley Castle, near Matlock the home of Richard ARKWRIGHT and later his
son also Richard, as a Jeremiah ASHMOLE is mentioned as being a coachman
there in the 1841 census. I`m wondering if he could be the same Jeremiah the
younger.

Many thanks

Sue
