I don't think we know who our John Forrest's parents are supposed to be - do we?

Yes, I think you are probably correct Sue - no d/c.

I think we could dig up all possible John Forrests in Australia and still not be certain we have the right chap.

I would really really like to know what proof they have that their John Forrest went to Australia. (Even if it's only a hint of a family story)

How would we know which is the correct John Forrest if he is found .... somewhere in Australia ,,, unless we have something else to go on.

There is a John Forrest age 44 arriving in Brisbane on the ship Dacca 12 Nov 1888.(He was born Lanarkshire and travelled with possible wife Elizabeth and 3 children)

What are the names of the children.   Can't bring it up at the moment.

Here is a link to Brisbane City Council Cemeteries Index.
http://www.brisbane.qld.gov.au/community/community-support/funeral-planning-and-grave-search/grave-location-search/BCC_899

John FORREST, burial 07/09/1912, Aged UNKNOWN.   Portion 12,  Section 2,   Grave Number 23.  Toowong Cemetery.     Also at same Portion/Section/Grave :  Mary Ann FORREST  77 years, burial 09/08/1928.    (FindMyPast AU has MI noting 5 Sept 1912  as DD of John FORREST  :-X )

May I please recommend obtaining some certificates.   Queensland certificates are very detailed, and include far more detail than say the English documents.   I know that you can now download Queensland certs, via your plastic card.     The Queensland death certs include answers to the question "how long in the colonies", when/where married, names of children of the marriage/s, names of spouse (including nee name) etc etc etc.

The information from Toowong Cemetery that I have typed up does NOT include his age, nor his place of birth, nor if he was married.   There is NO way to confirm if this is the chap that the OP is seeking, based on my sightings.   Again, may I recommend that the OP obtains some certificates.

Cheers,  JM
