Hi Glen

Yes, as that is the onlyy ref with the two names then that knocks him out for me.

Adds a little weight, albeit temporary, to Cull=Whitehorn ?

Although there are 50 people listed on freebmd for New Forest Sept qtr 1900 only 24 are male, 26 are female.
The entry for Alice Shilton has been wrongly indexed (should be Newbury) making it 25 female and a total of 49 people.

I suspect that the one missing entry for this quarter is probably who you are after  :-\

Thanks to all of your replies to my query, I think Rosie has the correct answer, that is a missing link on the September 1900 Census for Elizabeth Whitehorn.
All of the other suggestions did not work out, as after checking future Census records none show any married to an Elizabeth, born Yeovil abt 1857, thanks to all for your help, I will have to send for a copy of the September 1900, marriage certificate, and see who is the lucky guy ??

Kind regards to all, Maurice H...

Surely with 2 out of the 3 ladies mentioned as being on the list of marriages are named Elizabeth, then one (of 2 you say) on the census should be named Elizabeth? Or how can you then discount anyone?

Would you quote the census refs where you have found the 2 men?

Hi

My point is that Eliz,Cull could be her maiden name and Eliz.Whitehorn could be (prev) married name.
(or vice versa)

I would agree with Ray that this is also a possibility, however I have not found a Cull/Whitehorn marriage that fits.  There are five names listed on that entry I thought that at that time there were only 4 to a page.   :-\

However :-)

If it is being said that "Elsie" is a possibility . . . .

There is an Elsie May Jane W aged 23 in Portswood (b "1888")
who marries Dec 1923 Southampton 2c 42 Elsie M J WHITEHORN / Percival Wright
This reg covers Portswood

Hi

" I have not found a Cull/Whitehorn marriage "

No, neither have I.  :-)

I just did not want an avenue closed without proof/real answer.
