Margaret left home at quite an early age and was purported to have made her way to the Coventry area, we have no idea whether she married, I have looked at deaths and there are numerous deaths for people who share this birth date with different surnames but none for Margaret Emma Manning

Any help in this direction will be much appreciated, till then I will continue to search the marriages for suitable matches

Yes that is her but on her father's Military History sheet her date of birth is given as 14/04/1913, that is strange, wonder if he made a mistake but even so it is the wrong quarter, should have been June I would have thought even if the year was wrong, wouldn't it or is it me ?

I have searched for deaths giving this exact date of birth

It is possible the birth was registered VERY late - it has happened in my family.

Maybe to find a baptism or purchase the birth certificate

What was Mum's maiden name ?

think I've solved the birth date - on father's military records (Thomas Fuller manning) at first glance you would read Margaret Emma's d.o.b. as 14/04/1913
When you enlarge it and look more closely it definately reads 14/11/13
This would also fit with the birth reg being Mar qtr 1914

What was Mum's maiden name?  SHUTTLE

Oh , I should have enlarged it more I think, now I will get back to checking on deaths but I think I will still consider it closed for the time being
