« on: Saturday 29 March 14 19:49 GMT (UK) »
I am trying to find a marriage for Charles Gilson Staniforth rumour has it he married in the Channel Islands - his relative Cawton Staniforth reputedly lived on the Islands.  I think it would have been early 1900's

Charles was married in 1905, and both of his daughters named on the 1911 census were born in Sheffield, as was his wife?

Yes he is from Sheffield - trying to find details of his marriage. Can you give more info on the 1905 marriage.
He is  Gilson not Gibson as far as I am aware

Have you viewed the 1911 entry?  I can't see a marriage on freebmd so you may have to buy a copy of one of their childrens birth certs to get his wife's maiden name

If you check freebmd - his birth was registered as Charles Gibson Staniforth and that name is also on the GRO index

He is definitely Gilson - its the mothers maiden name.   I have his wifes maiden name Blanche Thornley the question is did they marry in the Channel Islands as we have found nothing from the records here.

Quote
his relative Cawton Staniforth

The 1871 Cawton Staniforth died in 1871.  That is the only Cawton Staniforth birth on freebmd

There is no Cawton Staniforth on any Channel Island census or any British one
