;) Hi MarP, nice to hear from you again, those paper are his militia paper i beleive,
his service records with DLI did not survive { iv'e been told }

It's amazing i didn't think to look into wether he married during the period of enlisting in
1904 and war breaking out 1914.

Iv'e sent an e-mail to our Stockton registery asking if the father's name is William
{ should say deceased } and hopefuly J W McIntosh's occupation will be either
soldier or joiner.

Would thier be a death date for his father William McIntosh, he only appears on the 1881
census and just dissapears.

I havn't forgot the great work you and Heywood did with my Murphy/Purtle ancestors.
Nice to hear from you again Marg.
Take care, all the best. ;)

Hi Derek

On the Army Records in 1904, when John joined, it does not state that his father is deceased, so he probably died between 1904 and 1911, it gives an address of 29 Haffron St,it may be worth looking at the Electoral Register, to see who was living there over the years, does it state on any of the census if Margaret is a widow

Hi Marg,
iv'e just looked at 1901 &  1911 census, last census for address 25 Ann st and not one state
Margaret as a widow.

Begining to wonder if they just split up, he was according to records abt 10yrs older than Margaret,

Thank Marg ;)

Hi, Derek, if you look at the 1911 census, where it states married, under that it looks like apart.

:'( So they did split :'(
where did he go ??? back to Hartlepool where his brothers & sisters lived perhaps.
If you look on the 1881 census they are living in Middle st, almost next door another
William McIntosh & wife Elizabeth i think, wondered if they were McIntosh relations.

Speculating but if they are living apart he just may have gone back to Hartlepool but no way of
proving it.

Thanks Marg ;)
