Many thanks for this it is a mystery which one day i hope to solve where abouts this nephew comes from.Apparently he was in the army in India,wonder if she had been married before cause as i said Rimmington and Dowdall are related but the other 2 surnames are strays.

No births for a Lucy Lockstone

No marriages for a Mr Lockstone to a Lucy


I tried 1880 to 1970.
Garrad (Suffolk, Essex, Somerset), Crocker (Somerset), Vanstone (Devon, Jersey), Sims (Wiltshire), Bridger (Kent)

IT does confuse you i know have been trying for ages to get a connection got to be one somewhere unless he just said he was a nephew or what.

I have just had a PM from someone who said LIly surname was Rimmington originally.So another avenue i will follow and see.

I have had another look and it seems that Stanley G Herbert married Violet Victoria Clarice Lockstone in 1926, it is quite possible that Violet didn't die until 1976 - birth 18th Nov 1899.

I haven't found a marriage for Stanley to Lily Elizabeth Rimmington but it appears that she and Alice May Rimmington were sisters.

On the 1911 census the family are in Sutton in Ashfield, Nottinghamshire.

In 1901 the family are here = RG13  1548/ Folio 78/Page 23 - Chatteris, Cambridgeshire.

1911 indicate the couple were married abt 1898, but I couldn't find a marriage on FreeBMD for Joseph William Rimmington... I did eventually but he is transcribed as Remmington.

From Nottinghamshire FHS marriage index:
Hucknall Torkard, St Mary Magdalene - 31st July 1898
Joseph William RIMMINGTON & Ann STAINFORTH   


It does look like the sisters are your link.

I have found another query regarding Lily Elizabeth Rimmington as follows. She married Stanley George Herbert in Colaba Bombay India on the 4 Nov 1925 her father listed as Samuel Knowles another mystery.
Lily died 2 June 1986 in Mansfield.
