You can send for a copy of his birth cert from www.gro.gov.uk using the reference I gave in reply #5
And Carol has found the christening at East Sutton, see reply #8

That's the problem though,he wasn't born as a King,but as a Sage to a single mum,no wonder they couldn't find him.

Just send to the GRO http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/ for his birth cert,it'll cost you £9-25. But if she was a single mum it may not name dad of course.

Hi Tess

When you wrote, what name did you say you were looking for?

The posts here suggest his birth was registered in the surname of Sage as he was born before his parents married.

You can apply to the GRO online at www.gro.gov.uk, when you apply you should fill in the online form stating you know the GRO reference and the year.

You should enter the surname as Sage and the first names as George King. The rest of the reference is this

April/May/Jun 1857
Hollingborn
Ref 2a 432

Hope this helps

Dawn
