« on: Wednesday 16 April 14 02:16 BST (UK) »
Here is the 1910 US Census...by the 1920 US Census Joseph had become John Born 1867 and the last name became Dann....any idea on what this Italian name is? Thanks.

Hi, The name as I read it is Dongo, there is a Dongo in Lombardy Italy so maybe your family have some connection to this region.

I cannot thank all of you for looking all of this up

It stated in the 1910 US Census that the family immigrated in 1906 with Mike being born in Italy.

By the 1920 US Census, Mike was now listed at being born in Conneticut.  On one ship manifest it stated he was born in Winsted and on his marriage license he said he was born in Hartford making me wonder if he was actually born in Italy but the family told him Connecticut!

I am helping a woman with her family tree and did find in that 1910 US Census the John that had a birth date of 1895 actually was born in 1898 according to findagrave.com and his name was spelled John Dan instead of Dann as his parents names were in the Cemetery in Pennsylvania.

In this Census, the father's name was Joseph but in all of the other Census it was John.  The only way I knew it was the same family was because of the mother whose name was Mary Grace and the two children Mike and Mary lined up.  The parents John and Mary Grace Dann died in the 1920s.

Trying to help this woman find her roots.

ALL of you have been wonderful.  I do find great satisfaction helping others with their trees.

Thanks all!
