GOOD EASTER PARISH LOOK-UP PLEASE
« on: Wednesday 16 April 14 12:54 BST (UK) »
Hi Rootschatters,

Does anyone have access to the Good Easter baptismal records?  I have run into the proverbial brickwall in searching for the baptism of Edward Oddy in 1780-82. It is a bit of a longshot, but the family has links with Good Easter.

Many thanks for reading this message.

I can't see any reference to an Edward between 1778 an 1789, only a bap. for an Elizabeth, daughter of Elizabeth and Timothy ODDY on the 21st. January 1787. and
Timothy 29th. May 1785

Not in High Easter either; do you have any further information on Edward?

Hi Mark,

Many thanks for your response.  The first record of Edward Oddy (or Hoddy) is in 1805 on the occasion of his marriage in Westminster. He works as a tailor in Westminster until his death in 1844 at the age of 63.  Unfortunately the 1841 census records for his residential area in Silver Street do not survive, so there is no clue as to his place of birth.

I have checked all of the obvious databases but have drawn a blank. There are family links with Essex, hence my request for the parish look-up : Good Easter was the only parish with Oddy connections which I was unable to research on the internet.

It is more likely that he was born in London. Sadly the records for a couple of Westminster parishes have not survived. Will keep looking - with spelling variations of his name.

Many thanks again for your interest.
