Hi all, could someone explain the "action taken " written in the medal index card of my gr grandfather please.

The "Mons Star" medal  was awarded exclusively to men who served in a theatre of war in 1914.
Awarded to this man on 23/2/1922 (action taken) with a qualifying date of 22/8/1914.
Most of these went to regular soldiers.

To add to Jims info the lads that came under enemy fire up to Nov 1914 were also awarded a clasp for the star with Aug to Nov 1914 on it and a rose for the ribbon
Generally known as clasp and rose thats the shorthand for their award on the action taken.
