Mark, me again, at rather an ungodly time of the morning, but the thinking continues…
Have found on the IGI a likely-looking marriage for a Ralph GREEN and an Esther SMOOTHEY in nearby Hadstock. I just wondered whether you could tell me whether the GREEN family were still (but working backwards) in Littlebury prior to Josiah GREEN's baptism in 1795 - that Ralph had simply married a young woman in her own parish church, and had brought her back to rear their family in Littlebury.
Or am I going to have to look for their earlier ancestral trail in other places…? I know my own mother's GURNER family were born, baptised, got married, and died and were buried in the little village of Ickleton just up the road from Littlebury (but just in Cambs) for at least 400 years. But they were farmers, not people running pubs, and perhaps the GREEN's moved around rather more.
Regards, Keith
…but I've just noticed that you said PM you, so I should do that now, sorry, I'm probably not supposed to be up with the lark this morning…!
