Hi all.

Today I received a letter from the Warwickshire County Council regarding my request to see my SS Files...

Heading..."1998 Data Protection Act;Data Subject Access"

Enclosed with the letter was a Subject Access Request Form which I have to fill in and return ....

I need to give them as much Information as I can remember about my time in care and then return it to them...

7 days to process...Then they decide if I can see my Records, if they are still there !!!!

Anyway, seems that I am now getting somewhere....

What worries me now is that I may not see ALL Records !!!...I wonder why????

Filling the form in now and will post it tomorrow and see what transpires....

Let you all know what transpires....

P.S.

If I wish to see any associated Records, ie. details relating to my brothers and sisters then I have to obtain written permission from them to do so....Sounds reasonable...

Just Posting this extra bit of Information for anyone else wishing to get Information about their time in care.

Hope it helps ..

Sounds hopeful, Brenda - fingers crossed.

It might be worth contacting somewhere like the Citizens' Advice Bureau to ask if they can tell you under what circumstances Social Services can refuse to let you see all your records. I suppose the problem could be if you and your siblings were taken into care together as obviously anything in your records would be the same as in theirs.

Hi Groom....

Cannot recall what happened when we were taken into care..I was only 5 years of age...

All I know is that we were all separated and sent to different Foster Parents....

The early years of my care are very vague,,,Having trouble trying to complete the form...

How am I supposed to tell them my 1st Foster Parents name and where they lived??? I was only 5 .

Later years are a little a little bit better to recall.

Anyway, I`m going to complete my form and send it in and see what happens...

Brenda.
