looking for any gill family who lived in frizington,arlecdon 1850-1901 and the gill family in newlands, crosthwaite in 1798-1850. the surnames who married into the gill family are the following:greenhow, herd, jacques, thwaite, dawson and todhunter of greystoke, also the irwin family of hexham.
i have plenty information on a lot of the gill family but would love to learn more and find some decendants

He married Mary SCOTT in 1828 Crosthwaite Cumberland
They had

Jane born 1826
John  1828
Mary 1829 my decendant
Mary, John, Mother Mary immigrated to Australia about 1852.
Mary GILL Married William REEVES 1858 Victoria Australia.
Mary mother died in Australia 1872
John died in Australia 1888
No sign of William GILL in Australia or Jane

My grandmother used to talk of a Lady Jane or Dianna GILL and The Marquis of Bute.

Any connection to your GILLs?

There is a few Gill's at Flimby but I wasn't searching for them, I won't be back there in the near future I am sorry to say
