we will never know if he actually did comit the crime, i went over to his house a few months ago and took a photo because the house was mentioned in a book on arlecdon the previous owner in 1925 was the jackson family, it is on private land, so i flew to the door got 2 pictures then ran back to the car, his father was tyson gill the half brother of my x3great grandfather. i have tried to find his grave, and also my x2 grandfather joseph gill who are both buried some were in frizington, arlecdon. but without success. joseph's direct line moved to durham then newcastle were i live today.
roberts family moved to cananda

i pressed the wrong botton, should have pressed modify instead of quote.
the manageress of the pub in arlecdon told me about the murder, that how i started to look at it, i didnt realise at the time he was related to my family line. glad i went in for pint or 2

hello debbie
it has been a long time since heard from you last.
i have just looked at the 1851 census and found william gill a widow living with his mother mary gill and his children sarah, elizabeth, and martha in keswick. i also found his son joseph gill living with a sarah scott his grandmother her son john and grandchild ann scott in st'john's crosthwaite.

so this makes it more confusing ???
