thomas green regiment ?

I am looking for information hopfully british army regiment/service of thomas green born c 1845 in huncote ? leicestershire on 1891/1901 census. oldest son born william T green b woolwich, london, 1874 and youngest son b poona india 1886. two other children elizabeth b 1880 cape town, south africa, and edward born poona india c 1884. it would appeaar that he served in the british army and served overseas, between 1874 and 1890, any help would be appreciated on this one.

He served in the  King's Own (Royal Lancaster Regiment) - 4th Foot, his records are on Findmypast.

Thomas was in India Feb '80 to Dec '86. FindMyPast has an image of the baptismal record of a -

James Edward Green, bap - 10 April 1884, born - 15 Mar 1884, male, parents - Thomas and Elizabeth Green, place - Poona, father's profession - Private, Royal Lancaster Regt, Chaplain - H.S. Midwinter.

lovely that thanks both, given me a great start on this one, still cant find thomas marraige to elizabeth, does it say mothers maiden name on james baptism, im on ancestry and faild to find that
 his mother was born birkenhead cheshire 1891/1901 census

Wd. certainly have included such a key item of info as mother's maiden name had it been present on the bap cert

He married Elizabeth Povall, at St Mary's, Chester, 16 Feb 1876
