COMPLETED Issac Wain in 1851 & 1861 Census
« on: Monday 05 May 14 10:43 BST (UK) »
Hi

Was wondering if anyone could help me.
I am looking for an Isaac Wain in the 1851 and 61 Census.
He married Pheobe Ellen Ferniough in 1864 at the Church of Earl Sterndale in Derbyshire in Bakewell registration district.
On the marriage certificate it says that he was living in Booth but doesn`t give details of his father, also Pheobe does not give details of her father but that is another story.
I think he may have died in Chapel on le frith in 1865 however I am unsure on this.
He was about 20 when he married so that gives his birth year around 1842-1844

In 1851, Isaac is shown as the grandson of Richard Wain at Booth, Hartington.

Next door, Ellen is the wife of Abraham Naden, with J (could be I) and William Wain as Abraham's step-children. Ellen could be Isaac's mother. She was the wife of John Wain in 1841.

In 1861, Isaac is a lodger in Hartington.

Ah!

1851 2151/7/6

Has I Wain son of Isaac as I posted. He is 9 yrs

However
1851 2151/5/2

Has I Wain 8 yrs as David has posted and the Bradleys are also there. That seems a better bet.

Richard Wain' s daughter, Ellen is married to Luke Bradley  :-\ she is only 24 yrs so probably John Wain is his father.

Are the witnesses to the marriage any help?

Hi All

thank you very much for your response would have responded earlier but my computer wouldn't  play ball.
Isaac I feel is not making it easy for my to trace his parentage.
I know dcbn mentions John Wain but on his marriage to Pheobe Ferniough Issac doesn`t say who is father is.
It is interesting to find out that he probably had a brother called William.

Just picked up on Heywood`s comment about the marriage witnesses.
They were Harriet Wain and Joseph Goodwin
