Harriet  Wain  appears to  be the  H Wain  from 1851   that  you found Heywood

Yes I think you are right. This is the family that  David found with grandad Richard.
They obviously were into initials round there  ;)

1851 has 4 x I Wain
Son of Richard  - 16 yrs
Grandson of Richard 8 yrs
Son of Isaac  9 yrs
Stepson of Abraham Naden and therefore son of E. 10 yrs

Now is son of E and grandson of Richard, the same 'I'?

Harriet would be aunt to young Isaac or sister to older one   :-\

I think I found Joseph Goodwin in 1851, living in my town in Lancashire! His mum would be Ann Wain.

That looks great, but sorry I am being really slow where was Harriet in 1851? Would you think that she is Isaac`s sister?

If it`s any help Issac Wain and Pheobe Ellen Ferniough had a daughter called Ann. So the name Ann  would seem to run through the family.

Great that has sorted that out Harriet appears to be his aunt, but who can be his mother.
Unless some could check who was living with the grandfather in 1840 that might shine a light on the matter.

Sorry Jan 57 just noticed that you looked up Richard Wain in 1841, so the mother of Issaac could be either Ann, Betty or Mary.

I wonder if Ann is the mummy that is why Joseph Goodwin was a witness because he was his half brother. I am unsure what part of Lancashire he was born in (was it Heywood?) but Isaacs daughter Ann by Phoebe ends up in Oldham, perhaps because there was already a connection with Lancashire.

Mary would be too  young, and Betty  possibly  also  ,  Ann   would be  the  likely  candidate  ,  although  still  young
