In the 1901 census of Ireland there's a Jane Priestly, age 85, born in Co Down.

She's living with her daughter Mary Wason in Londonderry.

Mary was the wife of Robert Wason from Drumhaggart, Burt, Co Donegal, and they lived in Liverpool.

She must have moved to live near his family when he died in 1895.

It's a while since I posted but trying to trace Priestleys who came from York to settle in Northern Ireland.
In a small town land called Drumadonald or maybe Ballyroney all near Rathfriland Co down.
My Grandfather x3 was William who married Sarah Murphy in early 1800s

Hello, did you ever manage to trace back further than William Priestley, born early 1800s?  We have some ancestors in common.

Haven’t been on this site for a long time. No further back than William and Sarah.
I am interested in any information you have. And happy to share mine with you.

It's been a good while since you started this topic, Jarvey50, so there's lots of new (free) resources online which might help you.
1901 and 1911 census as well as earlier fragments-
http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/
Civil records (births, deaths & Catholic marriages from 1864 & non-Catholic marriages from 1845)
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/civil-search.jsp
Also Griffith's Valuation (and Valuation Revision Books on PRONI's site), many newspaper on Find My Past (a pay site but you can do free searches the Irish & British newspapers to get lots of clues), Ros Davies (surname & places in Co.Down) & Lennon Wylie (directories), etc.

If I want death notices and newspaper articles is Find my past best or are there better sources .

I tend to do free searches on Find My Past (select Irish or British papers)-
https://search.findmypast.co.uk/search/irish-newspapers
There are errors in the character recognition so just keep playing about. Do broad searches then narrow down by dates if you have any idea.
Warning: selecting a county or place will bring up results for newspapers from those which may not include details of people you are looking for published in papers outside the area.
