Jarvey50, you are further on with your research than I am, so anything that you could share would be much appreciated.  Below is pretty much all that I have - I could not find matching records for James Priestly whom I believe to be my great grandfather x 3, so I got stuck at that point.  Thank you.

GREAT GRANDFATHER
George Priestley born 27 October 1894, died aged 70 in 1964.  Father's name was stated on birth reg as George Priestly of Ballyroney.

GREAT GREAT GRANDFATHER
George Priestley born around 1850. Profession, weaver. A widower who in 1890 married a widow, Anna/Annie Wilson, whose maiden name was Priestley, both from same area.
Birth certificate shows his father as James Priestly, Labourer.

Were you able to connect this branch of the family to Yorkshire. Did your grandparents give you any information?

Hi

I have friends with that surname, so sent them an email two years ago, having found their surname crop up in Aghold CoI parish (Carlow) in the mid 1700s.  I later found that surname in Hacketstown.
Unfortunately irishgenealogy.ie is down again this weekend, or I'd check up the link for you.

Regards
